Living abroad, I know what it's like to know some stuff about languages but feel uneasy expressing yourself truly in another language.
But I also know — if you are putting in the work — that the brain is able to get so much more than people used to think.
I know that because I am addicted to lightbulb moments, aka a Holistic Learning Coach. I love to provide those moments to the people I work with. Because sharing these moments when something seemingly difficult suddenly makes so much sense makes it even more rewarding.
I don't believe that you need to be a linguistic talent and brag with grammar terms and unnecessary stuff-even though I am the biggest grammar nerd that you can imagine after studying Latin and Ancient Greek for 6 years each.
That's why with me, you won't memorize random topics like in textbooks, but always having a bigger picture of the structures and strategies you really need for your conversations in German. And yes sometimes it is also memorizing, but less often than we think.
... helping you to turn your thoughts into authentic conversations in German
Because you deserve to live your best life chatting with your German-speaking people — and you shouldn't be prevented from doing so by perfectionism or fear of mistakes.
Living your best life in healthy independence is far more effective when you don't have to run everything through a translation app or rely on others. I approach all my programs with the independence of restricting textbooks and develop materials for you that are truly in your zone of genius.
Learning in an enjoyable way and learning with a system are not mutually exclusive. All my work is characterised by combining both, because it is more effective and faster for you.
That's something I've always been able to work on, and still do sometimes. Mistakes are not a sign of failure but of growth. No progress without mistakes.
After graduation, I was disappointed by the school system and teachers and never wanted to be part of that.
After jobbing around in sales, I came back to the teaching idea and decided to start studying in 2008.
Still, I felt that there was something missing in the way we learn and things are taught.
That's why after two degrees, teaching in uni, primary, secondary and back to adults, I started a two years training as holistic learning coach.
That was a key moment because it enabled me to accompany my students in a more effective way than ever before and train other teachers to do so too.
But then I decided to move abroad. So in addition to my didactic skills, I gained first-hand experience of the challenges that are coming up when you want to socialize. When your abilities to talk in the target language are so different to the skills in your first language.
And that's why I decided to put my 12 years of experience as a teacher, coach, and mentor together and set up the brand "inGerman".
I am here to help everyone with German-speaking people in their inner circle or planning to have to socialize in German conversations for real.
Say Hello to the 19 years old version of me that just started studying to become a teacher — 17 years ago. Wow. Time flies.
At the early stages, it is helpful to prepare ourselves for conversations by practising typical structures and topics that might come up.
This guide will help you to get started, going from a few sentences to real conversations in German.
