Build up German fluency by surrounding yourself with the building blocks of every conversation and automating it , so that when you speak in German-speaking get-togethers, you are seen as the smart and witty person you already are in your first language
The signature program for (soon-to-be) expats, professionals, or those with German speakers in their inner circle who already know some German, but now want to tell, explain, clarify, assume, suggest, discuss and gossip at German get-togethers. So they can have deeper conversations and become a social magnet.

A quick question for those of you who have been on traditional pre-intermediate German courses, know a lot of words, understand some German and can string together a few sentences. But you are so slow to share your experiences and opinions that you switch back to English to avoid keeping others waiting, or even avoid meetings in German altogether...
If there was a reliable way to build up German conversation skills quickly and make yourself an interesting person in German-speaking get-togethers. Without spending hours cramming grammar or memorizing the pointless sentences from the app with the green owl that everyone has already tried. …
… would you then invest in automating the language in your head to get it from your head to your tongue, to once and for all break through the invisible wall that keeps you from socializing in German
In 2019, I moved to Spain as a longstanding German teacher who was looking for new challenges, honing my half-baked Spanish skills. With my Spanish from traditional Spanish courses, I painfully experienced what it's like when you suddenly don't understand anything anymore, even though you understood everything in the language course. And people smiled at me because they equated my language skills with my intellect.
Today I get compliments on my choice of words and others ask me how I've managed to go from a few sentences to whole authentic conversations. I feel ready to master any conversation in Spanish (even if it's not yet perfect and flawless) and I've even been asked if I've been here since I was young because I sound so authentic.
How I did that, you are asking me? I'll tell you shortly ...
Strategically creating German fluency and becoming the interesting, smart and experienced person in German that you already are is no longer far away thanks to this 10-week program
As soon as you surround yourself with the phrases and sentences that you would naturally use in your native language in get-togethers and automate everything in your brain by using them, nothing stands in your way anymore
You will probably look back on this moment when ...
... you suddenly have more and more moments when you prefer to speak in German rather than in your mother tongue, simply because you feel you can express yourself even better in certain areas
"After the first training call of inGerman Decoded, I am fully prepared to speak up and give my opinion on things at our next German-speaking meeting."

But now your reality looks still different, doesn't it?
If you're like many of my clients you're stuck in a trap right now
If your fluency strategy consists only of random grammar and new words, you have no strategy
It may be that while scrolling through your phone every day there's a word that sticks and you use it, but you're no longer a teenager learning German at school, you need it for your German-speaking get-togethers, right?
“That was always my sticking point that I can do quizzes and grammar tests as it mostly follows a logic pattern. But when it comes to using what I have learned for conversations and someone interrupts me, my brain goes blank. And that’s what inGerman Decoded helped me with! Through the individual feedback, I knew I was on the right path and people actually understand me.“

But before I tell you more about it… who am I anyway?
My name is Jennifer von der Weiden, and I help you to express yourself authentically in German and inspire your conversation partners so that your vision of the person who actually speaks German becomes reality! 😉
I have already gone through this process myself in English and Spanish, and I also studied Latin and Ancient Greek for 6 years. So I'm an absolute grammar nerd.
Through my work as a German teacher and Holistic Learning Coach — I've been at it for 12 years. That's a really long time — and through observing my clients, I quickly realized that it's not grammar that makes you the smart person in another language that you already are.
During my German studies, I had already learned the neurolinguistic processes that take place during the acquisition of a foreign language.
And instantly after my studies, I had to realize that this is not put into practice anywhere in the classical A2, B1, B2 world. …
To get the phrases, words, and sentences from your head to your tongue.
The brain’s acquisition system actually drives communication and fluency, while the learning system is more like an editor—correcting and polishing what you already use.
🔥But if you’re not speaking, there’s nothing to polish !!!
Studying and speaking systems can’t operate at the same time. That’s just how the brain works.
⚡So, studying hard alone doesn’t lead to words flowing on autopilot.
My client put it into words so beautifully:
"Fluency comes from speaking.
All else comes later."
Laura

If it were that easy, then anyone who wanted to could speak fluent German with their German-speakers the very next day.
But it's freaking scary anyway.
And that's why I've taken my years of experience and the success stories of the over 1000 people I've accompanied on their journey to fluency in German and created:
What you need for quickly getting your words flowing on autopilot in German and get asked "Wow your German is so flowy. For how long have you lived here?"
Fixed phrases that are used in every conversation in German that are like building blocks. They run like a skeleton through every story that is told in a German-speaking get-together. (And no, that doesn't mean that you repeat them like a parrot)
If you want to talk about your last weekend, share your opinion and plans and gossip in German, you need to know phrases. They're the building blocks of a smooth German conversation. Once you've got a handle on the phrases people use to tell each other those daily stories, you'll be ready to react quickly and use them yourself. And since conversations are basically storytellings, you need to know how to see and hear those phrases inside a story so you can use them in context and not just repeat them like a parrot. That's the acquisition system that gets the ball rolling with communication and fluency.
A flexible study strategy to decode and activate the words, sentence structures and mouth movements you need for those German-speaking get-togethers so that you can use them in unplanned conversations
Your brain's acquisition system gets the ball rolling with communication and fluency, while the learning system acts as a monitor or editor, correcting mistakes and making it more polished and precise. Everyone learns at their own pace and in their own style, even if they're as serious about German as they are about their job and study daily. That's why it's best to do the learning part of automating German when it suits your schedule. That way, you save precious time in class for the things that really matter: conversations.
Move your mouth so that what you say actually sounds German and not like the old Google robot reading German words
You can have an accent and still be understood perfectly, but if your pronunciation is unclear, you'll have trouble being understood. That's because German doesn't sound the same as it's written. So you have to make your mouth move in a certain way for the standard sounds.
But if you don't know what sounds a word consists of, you'll just guess it from the written form and replace it with similar sounds of your native language. The result is German words that don't exist, and without seeing the word, a German-speaker won't understand it.
That's exactly what you do in "inGerman Decoded"
100% testimonials speak for themselves, but see for yourself:
… when you're exposed to "comprehensible input," which is German that's a step beyond your current level of language proficiency, he means that you should be surrounded by conversational storytelling and tell your own stories in German.
It's all about the messages you're sending and receiving, not the grammatical form of the language. (At least not in the first place).
So, there's really no reason to hide behind the app with the green owl.
He also became fluent in German that way.
Just like the process that children use when they acquire their first language, peppered with the adult learning system of the brain.
And I also became fluent in Spanish this way. Remember?
If that's not a coincidence…
"I became convinced of the importance of focussing on what we want to express rather than on avoiding mistakes"

Problem: Before the inGerman Academy, William wasn't sure if others understood him and sometimes wondered if his sentences needed to be error-free to be understood.
Solution: William discovered inGerman Decoded (formerly “inGerman Academy”) and invested directly so that he could save himself time and no longer have to find out by trial and error without feedback what really works to be understood in German.
Result: The course content convinced William how important it is to speak in German even before you are absolutely flawless and that fluency is more important than accuracy, because it often blocks you.
Nevertheless, he was able to complete all the tasks accurately, although some seemed a little difficult. By confidently submitting his language as audio for feedback, he has created a chain of successes that will soon motivate him to be understood in German completely freely and without fear of making mistakes.

In your German-speaking gatherings with your friends, colleagues, new people and family, you need to tell stories.
When we talk about how our week has been, give our opinions about what has happened and want to share how we are doing, we are telling stories from our lives.
You need to understand the recurring phrases your German speakers use in their storytelling and automate them so that you can use them when you tell the stories about your life.
Because of that, you see the phrases in inGerman Decoded used in context, which will always beat the typical lists or short videos of '10 phrases for ...'.
That's why I've written the crime story with over 100 essential phrases for German conversations for you with a German that is neither too difficult nor too easy.
It has a graded language, so you don't have to read children's books. You can read about adult topics in a German that is not as complicated as the books for native speakers.
With many surprising moments that will make you look forward to next week when you can read the next chapter.
That way, know you'll get through the 10 weeks.
Not like when you were at school, where once the initial motivation had gone, you no longer felt like spending boring hours with the textbook.
The e-learning modules contain over 120 video lessons and more than 10 hours of video footage in which you strategically build up your vocabulary, sentence structures and pronunciation skills and prepare yourself for the life speaking sessions.
You can watch the videos from the comfort of your sofa with an after-work snack and work through them at your own pace.
Outdated strategies and boring, yawning presentations are a thing of the past! Everything is divided into short snackable clips!
And so that you don't lose track, there are guidelines and a learning plans at the start of each module to make sure you get your words flowing out of your mouth as quickly as possible.

I will analyze your choice of words, your sentence structure, your mouth movements and all the details of your speech so that you always know what goes already well and what you should focus on next.
That's why this program is even better than an in person group course in an adult education center or a classical online course, where your teacher would never have the time to give you detailed feedback.
With inGerman Decoded, you never have to worry that your German is not perfect or that you are not as advanced as others, because I know that every brain is different.
Because in the feedback, we compare you to the previous German-speaking version of yourself and determine the next steps for you to become the smart person in German that you already are in your native language.
German doesn't sound the same as it's written. So you have to make your mouth move in a certain way for the standard sounds.
You can have an accent and still be understood perfectly, but if your pronunciation is unclear, you'll have trouble being understood.
But if you don't know what sounds a word consists of, you'll just guess it from the written form and replace it with similar sounds of your native language.
The result is German words that don't exist, and without seeing the word or spelling the word, a German-speaker won't understand it. (They don't want to be mean or strict, they truly don't understand it sometimes).
Studies have shown that if you have a clear pronunciation, you will immediately come across as more competent to natives in German, while they will forgive most grammatical errors.
That's why I've included interactive pronunciation tutorials of the essential German sounds for you throughout the modules, which you can repeat over and over again to practice your clear pronunciation.
Are you unsure whether you will always be able to watch all the tutorials and complete all the assignments before we meet for our speaking sessions, even though you take your Fluency journey as seriously as you do your job?
Then you'll be happy to know that you can use inGerman Decoded at your own pace, at any time, and come back to it later if you're not sure how to pronounce something.
Updates for upcoming rounds are also automatically included, so you're always up-to-date.
These bonuses are waiting for you
Exams don't make you fluent, they stroke your ego.
I know hundreds of people who have certified a level on paper.
But in real life, the words don't come out of their mouths, and therefore they are not seen as the smart person they are in their native language.
As a result, they don't feel like a social magnet, but rather part of the decoration instead of the conversation with their German-speaking people.
However, I understand that sometimes an official exam is necessary for bureaucratic reasons, and therefore I have summarized the most important contents and pitfalls of the Goethe Certificate exam for you.
To let the words flow out of your mouth on autopilot in your conversations, you have to form sentences.
These sentences always have a verb, and if you have to think too long about which time and person to use, your listeners will have to wait a long time. That's why I've created this bonus section, so you can come back here again and again to practice the most frequently used verbs.
Often the most frequently used verbs are the irregular ones. In any language.
So don't let that put you off. Here are all the verbs you need to speak fluently, so that your German speakers have to wait less and less and compliment you on how quickly you're making progress.
If you plan to build up your German language skills in the long term, sooner or later you will reach your limits and perhaps feel overwhelmed and exhausted. Another topic is how to deal with mistakes.
I have recorded a personal video so that you can prevent this and master your learning journey in a mentally balanced way.
I've created a big word bank in a Google Sheet and digital flashcars for you that you can filter by word categories, topics, letters, verb groups etc. That way, you make sure that you can pick the words that you are currently focusing on in the easiest way and save a lot of time by not having to collect them from different resources.
This list is like your own personal treasure chest that you can return to again and again and will stay with you long after the course is over and helps to prevent vocabulary overwhelm.
Meeting new people or navigating everyday situations?
Whether in your native language or German, small talk is key!
This module focuses on mastering the art of casual conversation for first-time encounters or brief interactions, like chatting with a stranger or handling day-to-day scenarios.
Unlike conversations with people you know well, small talk helps you make a good impression and build connections in a relaxed, friendly way.
That's why you learn how to handle these moments with typical phrases and conversation starters.

A great course
The In-German Decoded class was a great class and a very good learning experience. In-German Decoded is an on-line course, but it is also very interactive. The course covered a lot of material beyond the usual grammar and vocabulary. Of course, there were lessons on grammar and vocabulary, but Jennifer also included videos on pronunciation and helpful hints on how to remember vocabulary. For me, the best part of the course was Jennifer herself. She quickly responded to all questions. At the end of each week there was an opportunity to demonstrate what the student learned that week (through an exercise called Final Tasks in which the student sends a video of themself speaking German) and for Jennifer to provide feedback. Jennifer is a very patient instructor, who corrects a student’s mistakes while providing positive reinforcement and encouragement. I would highly recommend In-German Decoded to anyone seeking an intermediate German language course.

Speaking!!!
I studied with Jennifer in her In-German Decoded class for 10 weeks to prepare for an immersive German language experience in Berlin. My vocab and grammar improved so much, and my spoken German improved by leaps and bounds! She was so patient with me; I was afraid to speak German at first because it wasn’t perfect, but I feel freed by her statement that was in essence, “Fluency comes by speaking, all else will come later.” So I just starting speaking, rightly or wrongly, and if I was wrong or could have said it better, she kindly let me know. She did not want to silence me! And she was correct—grammar and vocab did come later. Jennifer also was available anytime for questions or concerns. Unfortunately I became quite ill at the end of the class and she gave me grace to finish after I recover. Though this process I also feel I’ve gained a friend. I totally recommend this class to anyone. Jennifer is the best!
